May Long Weekend 2021 Camping Trip

We managed to book a site for the May long weekend even with the camping craze that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused. So we packed up our gear and headed out to Franchere Bay on Moose Lake Alberta. Part of the Lakeland area of Alberta. It’s not the mountains but it’s still a beautiful part of the province. The campground is typical for the area with lots of spots fairly close together. It’s not crown land or back country camping by any means but it was nice to get away for the long weekend.

We took the dogs down to the lake and let them play in the water. On their leads of course. I have not photos of that but in the video on our YouTube channel, there is lots of dogs in the water.

It really is a nice campground. We may come back here at some point in the future. Lots of people on the long weekend but it was very relaxing.

There’s nothing like making an apple pie over the fire after dinner. Every night. Man those are good.

Don’t forget the Jiffy Pop! It’s just fun to make.

And speaking of dinner. I cooked steaks over the open fire. In all my years of camping, that’s a first for me. It was amazing. The smoke from the fire added just the right amount of flavor to the steak.

And of course another apple pie over the fire.

This video covers our entire weekend including the hike we did on Alberta’s Iron Horse Trail. Part of it anyway.
