We had a special treat this time. My kids joined us for a hike! We headed out to the Cooking Lake Alberta area and walked the Wanisan and Lost Lake loop. 8.5 km of beautiful trail to walk on.
This was a really nice area to hike in. Lots of beaver activity and lots of ponds to walk by. Beaver dams, birds, even beavers themselves were there for us to view.
At about the halfway point of our hike, we came across a picnic area with tables and a fire pit. We sat here for quite a while to enjoy our lunch and take in the scenery. All of us were really having a good time on this hike. It was a nice easy, but not too easy, hike in some really nice countryside.
After a good lunch and some rest, we made our way back along the trail to the parking area.
I have to say, Christina and I love hiking and have a great time when we are out but having my kids with us was extra special. I love to share with them the things I love to do in my life. I really hope to get them into the hiking spirit and have them with us more often.
